International Shipping

Posted by Patrick Brossard on April 19, 2012 0 Comments

International Shipping is apparently a big, huge, pain in the neck.

We've had to turn off automatic fulfillment from our warehouse for international (outside the U.S.) orders. With the insane shipping costs, the random (and equally insane!) customs, brokerage and/or VAT fees, customers were getting hit with nasty surprises. Sorry, this even means you, Canada!

The good news is that we'll still ship internationally, and it will be much cheaper as we'll be using the plain old United States Postal Service. If you want to place an order for delivery outside the US, just contact us at support@advancedterrain.com and we'll get you a shipping quote.

We're also working on importing case lots to Canada and the UK, so hopefully once that's figured out we'll be able automate shipping again to all of North America and Europe.

Sorry for the incovenience!

Blastoff!

...and Boom! We are up and running.

The Domus Ruins are officially available for purchase. We haven't had any unpainted ones available, though if we hear some specific interest in those we can make it a priority.

Coming hot on their heels are the Conseptum Walls. We should have some of those available as well by the end of the month. If you're on the newsletter, you'll be the first to know!

Just completed the finishing touches on the web store. Things should be ready for our first load of terrain sets to hit the distribution warehouse this weekend. We won't have a ton of sets at launch, but hopefully enough to satisfy any initial rush. Special thanks to the "beta" testers who helped me work out kinks on the site. I'm sure there are still a few more, and shipping charges are still a little pricey for overseas customers, so let me know if anything looks wrong to you!

And typos... tell me about any typos. I hate typos!

Well, we've finally fulfilled all of our Kickstarter pre-order commitments. And we've got a bunch of terrain sets all painted up and ready to go. Right now we're just testing the integration between our site and the fulfillment warehouse that will be doing the actually packing and mailing of the orders.

Not long now!

Terrain incoming!

Posted by Patrick Brossard on March 02, 2012 0 Comments

Finally starting to get some new sets arriving from manufacturing. We have some pre-orders still to fulfill from our Kickstarter campaign, so those people will be getting taken care of first, but it shouldn't be more than a couple weeks now before we have a bunch painted up and ready to post. I thought delays were bad in my industry (software), but I can tell we still have a lot to learn from the real engineers!

Grimdark Gray paint scheme revisted

Posted by Patrick Brossard on February 11, 2012 0 Comments

I was unhappy with the Grimdark Gray colors. The look we were getting was much too contrasted - the shadows were nearly black, the highlights nearly white. While it didn't look too bad as standalone pieces, it was too bold for terrain. Terrain is supposed to fade into the background a little, the focus should be on the miniatures themselves.

So, we've finished refining the painting steps for it, and I am very pleased with the outcome. We'll be updating the photography in the webstore here before we're restocked, but there's a sample here on our Facebook page where you can check out the new look:

Here's a teaser...

More Terrain on Order

Posted by Patrick Brossard on January 09, 2012 0 Comments

Yay! We've got an order of 200 terrain sets incoming with which to finally get the store restocked. Thanks for your patience! Unfortunately, by the time the terrain arrives, is painted, and is delivered to the fulfillment warehouse, it will probably be the end of February. Ugh!

Factory Seconds

Posted by Patrick Brossard on December 22, 2011 0 Comments

We've been posting Factory Seconds (read slightly messed-up models) occasionally for the Kickstarters. Availability of these is very spotty, and they tend to be snapped up pretty quick, but there are still a handful of the Brown ruins available.

Head over to the secret page and roll the dice on what you might receive...

And... Lift-off with the new site

Posted by Patrick Brossard on November 29, 2011 0 Comments

Well, it's not as snazzy as the old one, but it's much easier to update. And when you're as busy as we are, that's the main thing!

The Upcoming Concepts page was in dire need of an overhaul, so it has not yet made the transition. Also, we're going to devote a small section to the most terrible abuse we can thing of inflicting on our terrain. To prove how tough it is, of course... not just to be sadistic!

Here's to more frequent updates! <Quaffs the smoky potion>

Paint Schemes

Color Options

So, here are the color options we're going to launch with. Pretty muted, but at least there's more than gray, gray, gray. gray, gray! Terrain should look great, but eventually fall into the background visually. Unless your battlefield is a carnival... Hey, that might be cool... Anyways; we may eventually add a white marble/ivory look, but we weren't able to arrive at a consistent scheme that we liked, so we're going with just the brown and the gray for now.

In the future, when we start selling direct through this site, we'll make the unpainted versions cheaper. We didn't really expect people to want them unpainted, so we didn't build an upainted option into the Kickstarter. So for now, it's just an option for people who are particular about their paint scheme, not for those looking to save a little.
